All women have some sort of hair on their upper lip, which for most is fine or lightly colored. However, some females deal with darker hair that can cause self-consciousness and low self-esteem. The hair casts a shadow on their upper lip that is quite noticeable. Luckily, home remedies for upper lip hair can help lessen the appearance or existence of unwanted growth.
Home Remedies for Upper Lip Hair
The presence of unwanted strands is often considered an undesirable facial attribute. From shaving it off to concealing its appearance, women will try a variety of approaches when it comes to removing hair from the face. They may also use some of the following home remedies for upper lip hair:
Sometimes, upper lip hair consists of a few wayward strands. A pair of tweezers can help you pluck out visible hairs that are attracting the wrong attention. First timers should prepare for minor stinging. Tweezers also come in handy when a woman does not want to resort to shaving her face. This method normally lasts between five and seven days. Tweezing unwanted lip hair is usually needed on a weekly basis.
2) Hydrocortisone Cream:
The cream in your cabinet that usually treats an itchy rash can be used to soothe the irritation that may come after tweezing upper lip hair. Apply to affected skin after a session of plucking.
Some women will use a razor to remove their upper lip hair. This method typically lasts for five to seven days, and needs to be repeated on a weekly basis. Use a new, clean razor every time to avoid the burn, bumps and irritation that can come from a dull blade.
4) Aloe Vera:
Break open a leaf from an aloe vera plant and apply the gel that oozes out onto your lip as a way to alleviate any discomfort you may feel after removing upper lip hair.
5) Lime and Honey:
Add one tablespoon of honey and two tablespoons of lime juice into a cup. Stir the contents well, and then spread the mixture over the lip as a daily treatment for four days. Leave the mixture on the lip for 30 minutes. This remedy should lighten the hair on your upper lip.
If the hair is long enough to cut, a quick fix is to snip away with a pair of scissors. You must have a steady hand to safely execute this remedy.
Change the appearance of your upper lip by catching hairs between a twisted loop of thread, which then removes the hair from the skin. It will take some people a bit of time to learn how to thread, but this removal method (when done correctly) does not cause any pain. Threading usually lasts for 10 to 14 days.
8) Lemon Juice:
As a natural bleaching agent, lemon juice can be used to lighten hairs that appear on your upper lip. Use a cotton ball or Q-tip to apply the juice to the hairs, and leave on for 15 minutes. Rinse off the lemon juice with warm water. Many women have experienced a mild bleaching effect that makes the upper lip hair less visible. When going out in the sun, be aware that lemon juice does make the skin more sensitive to the rays.
9) Lime Juice:
Lime juice has the same natural bleaching effect on unwanted upper lip hair. Apply a small amount and leave on for 15 minutes before rinsing off with warm water.
10) Brown Sugar:
Sugar wax offers an exfoliating hair removal solution for the upper lip. Add two cups of brown sugar, one cup of water, and one cup of lemon juice to a saucepan. Simmer on low to medium heat – stirring the mixture continuously to make sure all of the sugar has melted. Your goal is to create a thick brown liquid. Allow the remedy to cool for a couple of minutes before using on your skin. Any remaining brown sugar wax can be stored in a microwaveable container, and placed in the refrigerator. When you need to use it, simply heat up in the microwave.
11) Sugar-Honey Wax:
Another recipe for homemade wax combines the juice of ½ lemon, one cup granulated white sugar, and ¼ cup honey. Place the ingredients in a clean, glass bowl. Microwave for two minutes – stopping the process to stir the mixture every 20 to 30 seconds. Allow the mixture to cool to a bearable warmth. With a wooden stick (meant for waxing), apply a thin layer of the wax to your upper lip before removing unwanted hair.
To make waxing the upper lip a smoother process, dust the area with cornstarch.
